Who Will Come for You?

I belong to the Greater Lehigh Valley writers group. This group has a critique type session weekly called the writers cafe. I try to make it to each one because it does encourage me to continue to write. I even attended by Zoom when I was in the rehab hospital recently.

Before we start reading our work there’s some light conversation between all of us. We’ve been doing this meeting on Zoom since the beginning of the pandemic so there could be as many as twenty of us waiting to read our work. Somehow this past week the conversation got onto the idea of someone “coming for you “ before you die. Someone mentioned Walter Cronkite would be the person who would come for her.

Of course I said for me I thought it would be John Lennon. One of my friends said “not George?” She knew that I’ve been learning more and more about George as a singer. songwriter, and spiritual person.

It seems to be a routine idea in many cultures that when you die an ancestor or someone close to you who has already passed will be near you and will lead you ton your journey. This is all part of the mysticism of dying. Sometimes what the dying person says will give you a clue as to who has come for them. Here are some examples:
