Old Woman, Old Man and New (Relatively) Technology

Picture this: An Old Couple in a 14 year old PT Cruiser (it would be a brand new one if Chrysler hadn’t stopped making them). They’re (she actually, the driver) trying to find a new doctor’s office.

The Old Man needs his hearing fixed — it seems he can’t hear his wife and she hears a lot of “What?” with a few “Pardon mes” thrown in the mix.

She has written directions — she used Google maps of course, she’s no fool.

But she’s put the directions on the back seat along with her purse and datebook. Maybe she is a fool — an old fool.

Old Man, strapped in with seat belt has problems with wife’s plea. “Just grab the directions. They’re on top of the date book on the back seat.” She’s driving and thinks she may know where to go. She’d tried a recon mission the day before but that ended when a bathroom break was desperately needed.

Old Man pulls up her book bag — NO! Then a garbage bag — louder NO! Next he tries to hand her the receipt for the Cruiser’s most recent repair job — NO, Damn it!!

She finally pulls into the Boscov parking lot and of course complains about having to wind around it to find “where to freakin’ park!” She pulls out her brand new iPhone whatever number/letter it now is and…
