I find it a very hypocritical season — everything connected to the “giving” season is not accessible to all. I think about the children separated from their parents along the border — what kind of Christmas will they have? The homeless. Those losing their food stamps. And some of us losing our SS? Those with huge medical bills and little or no insurance? We are not a Christian country — we’re not a caring society. Yes, some of us try. What whenever we achieve a minor victory, we’re pushed back.

Sometimes I think it would be good to return to Christianity, if only for the fellowship, but the Sunday sanctimony followed by six days of neglect and hatred of people not like us would make me give it up again.
