How I lost 30 Pounds in 2019

And it was a crappy year…

Now’s the time of year when emails and FB tell me how to lose weight and “get in shape.” Why should I be any different than the rest of overweight Americans?

Because I lost 30 pounds in one year just by eating half portions of what I used to eat — and using Smart Ones or Lean Cuisines for supper — mostly while we were in the hotel after the furnace fire last winter. I eat half of what I order when we go out (if it’s not just one pizza slice) and the leftovers I take home for the next night’s supper.

I was taught — like many whose parents went through the Depression — to “clean your plate” — I no longer do that. I either take smaller amounts or leave food on my plate (a virtual sin when I was a kid, hence an overweight kid). When I feel full, I stop eating. I don’t eat when I feel bored — I read a book or I write

I also stopped eating meat and my cholesterol went down —I get protein from protein drinks, eggs, cheese, yogurt, and beans (yep — I do fart but discreetly).

What about my Type 2 Diabetes and My Blood Pressure?

My FBS in the morning is under 120 — looking forward to my next A1c — and yes, I did indulged in cookies and fruitcake — but limited amounts. I have one glass of red wine or Pino grigio at night. I get the small bottles…
