How an Elderly Woman Could Become an Addict
A partly true story
Start when she’s younger with parenting that leads to no self-esteem and encourage her to go into a profession she really didn’t want but the education was inexpensive — make that profession grueling mentally and physically and have her work at it for more than forty years.
When she develops back problems with severe pain, call her a malingerer and do nothing for as long as you can. Have her supervisor give her warnings because of the time she took off with the back issues. But because she’s a “big girl” keep giving her the overwhelming assignments.
Keep her psychological problems going with a gay husband and then years of being dumped by men.
Then as she ages, keep the back pain and give her a large house to help keep up and then make it all her responsibility as her second husband’s health and abilities decline and also make her in charge of his medical issues.
Continue with the severe back pain, but only allow her a “mild” opioid.
Continue with the pain as it worsens and then her blood pressure rises and then let her go from doctor to doctor, test to tests, as the pain worsens, as she begins to believe that she’s lost the person she was.
