Actually it could be writers are just discouraged. How often must one try and try and try and get no where until you say, F It All!

I’ve gone from writing several stories a week to maybe one — maybe none. I have things to say but if there’s no one out there who wants to read it — why bash yourself on the head over and over. The time a reader spends on an article is not as important as the article’s impact on the reader.

How long was the Gettysburg Address?

For example: “Baby shoes for sale. Never worn.” — Read it in seconds but the impression stays with you for years.

At 72, I’ve been writing for publication — any link of publication for 60 years. First rejection at 12.

I should be bloody used to it by now — but no.
